What do you actually do at BG?
I climb on planes. Meet with clients. Climb on planes.
Favorite questions to ask in an interview?
- Are you vegetarian?
- Do you like red wine?
- Do you have a dog?
- Who do you barrack for?
- What car do you drive?
How many kids do you have?
Two boys who make all of the exhaustion worthwhile. Of course a very understanding wife in relation to the first question.
If I wasn't Global Sales Director, I'd be...
a potato farmer!
Tell us about life as a farmer.
Well it's tough for us farmers...you city folk reckon meat and potatoes just appear on the supermarket shelves, but ohhh no it's a tough life. Working the land, dealing with El Nino and his other goons, droughts, floods, a government who doesn't care...and then come calving season, I'm often found down the back end of a cow helping to pull a calf with my trusty assistants Homer and Mo there to help clean up the afterbirth.
How many tractors do you own?
Only two. But I really want a Porsche Diesel Junior Tractor. Built up until the late 50’s.
How many tractors would you like to own?
My philosophy is one per male in the household, so that’s three and my wife can’t really make a strong argument against that. So the next one is a Porsche Diesel Junior Tractor. Built up until the late 50’s, it’s the only diesel engine ever built by Porsche. Deliver around 12hp, most were red and there are not many around in Oz!
What do you like about BG
I love this place because we always try things. We may not always get them right – but we do innovate and try stuff. The business is a very different model today than what it was in the mid-90’s when I arrived. We as individuals have evolved in our roles. In that time we now work in so many countries that we have the current potential to reach over 2 billion consumers … when I started it was only a potential of 25 million!
